What does the metal found do?
It was confirmed that the metal found in the affected products is called antimony. The Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety bans the use of more than 10 microgrammes of antimony per gramme, as excessive usage of antimony may cause eye irritations and gastrointestinal diseases such as vomiting or abdominal pain.
The ministry discovered the excessive amounts of antimony in the products sold by Amorepacific on Monday. Amorepacific also owns Aritaum, another beauty brand affected by the recall. Amorepacific has since issued an apology.
